Background
This single was supposed to be released with "Ego" but it has been replaced by "Sweet Dreams". Beyoncé has decided that 2 songs from "Sasha Fierce" will be released insted of 1 from each CD. After the release of "Sweet Dreams". She will then release this song and another form "I Am..." which is currently unknown. This song and the other will be the final singles from I Am… Sasha Fierce.
Music and Lyrics
The lyrics are about how love is complicated. What she means by Broken-Hearted is that she never wants to leave him and wants to be with him through the good and bad times. The good and the bad times are expressed different verses Eg. " I know that i love you, but let me just say, i don't wanna love you in no kind of way" and "And though there are times when i hate you'cause i can't erase the times that you hurt me and put tears on my face and even now, while i hate you, it pains me to say i know i'll be there at the end of the day" what these verses show is that no matter what comes good or bad love will be there to help chose the way.

This song was chosen to be apart of "I Am.." as a slow R&B/soul-Ballad, because the the way the lyrics are made and the meaning that is has and the emotion that she caries.
Music Video

The Music Video was released on the 16 June 2009, the video is black and white once again with some colour. It shows Beyoncé in a car then pictures of her walking to the beach, in the car again and then her laying on the beach with a man. After it shows the first 2 scenes again and contiunes with these 2 scences then with the guy and then alone on the beach. Beyoncé then walks on the beach for while then in the water with teary eyes and shows her in the car holding hands while it goes back to her in the water. Afterwards she comes in a green dress then her face singing and then in the green dress she has a rose with she takes petals flying to her and repairs a rose. It then shows her alone again then her with and without the guy. (There is some colour in this scene) then in the car with a smile and then on the beach with a sunset and it ends.

The concept of the video is to show the love that she carries with her and when she is with the guy. Also about the changes of love in life and how she never wants to be lonely.
