Brockton murders

The Brockton murders were a January 21, 2009 double murder apparently by white supremacist Keith Luke, 22, of Brockton, Massachusetts. Keith murdered two people and raped and severely wounded a third. The Brockton police say that the attack was a planned, racially motivated attack directed at non-whites and Jews that would have continued if they had not apprehended Luke. The killing spree took place the day after the inauguration of President Barack Obama.
On January 21, Luke is said to have forced his way into the home of his former neighbors, immigrants from the Cape Verde Islands, armed with a gun. Police reports state that he handcuffed a 22-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her. When the victim's younger sister arrived, Luke is alleged to have shot the younger sister multiple times in the back as she tried to run away. He is then alleged to have returned to the first woman and shot her.
Luke, arrested after a car chase, told police officers that he acted because he was "fighting extinction" of the white race. He said that he had enough ammunition to "kill 'nonwhite people' such as African Americans, Hispanics and Jewish people." According to the police report, Luke said that he planned to go to a synagogue in order to "kill as many Jews as possible during bingo night."<ref name="bloody"/>
According to police investigators, Luke read white supremacist web sites and told the police that "people on these sites spoke the truth about the demise of the white race." He also spoke of the "Zionist occupation" of Palestine.<ref name="bloody"/> According to the police, the synagogue Keith had planned to attack was Temple Beth Emunah in Brockton.<ref name="DA"/>
Luke appeared for his arraignment with a swastika carved onto his forehead. He had cut the swastika into himself while in jail.<ref name="was"/>
