Brian Schmitz (born June 12, 1978) is currently retired from semi-professional Arena Football League after a 7 year career. He was a 1st team All-American at UNC where he wore #23 for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Schmitz was named to the Chicago Tribune All-Century Team. He lead the ACC in punting in 1999 and is the all-time ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) leader in all punting categories. Sporting News ranked him as the second best punter in the country in 1999.
He was signed as an undrafted free agent with the NFL's New York Giants in 2000 and played in all four of the Giants' preseason games that year, handling the kickoff duties.
