Brian Culp

Brian Culp (born July 5, 1970 in Overland Park, Kansas) is a baseball player, technology, and author.
Baseball career
After graduating from Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, Kansas, Culp attended Kansas State University on a baseball scholarship. While playing baseball at KSU from 1990-1993, Culp performed well both on the field and in the classroom. He ended his baseball career hitting .390 in his last 22 games, with five doubles, seven home runs, 30 RBIs, 22 runs scored and five stolen bases. In 1993, Culp was drafted in the 42nd round by the Colorado Rockies.
Culp entered the minor leagues, but was plagued by injuries. Culp retired from professional baseball in 1996.
Technology career
Culp began his technology career at IBM in Seattle, Washington. After leaving the technology company, he became president and CEO of another technology company, a training and networking services firm in his hometown, and lived in Overland Park, Kansas.
Inevitably, Culp began working for Microsoft. As a member of the Microsoft Across America team, Culp toured the U.S. giving presentations for Microsoft on lots of technology, like Windows XP, Windows Vista, Small Business Server, and Office 2007.
Culp is author or coauthor of numerous technology books, including: Windows Vista Administration: The Definitive Guide (O'Reilly, 2007),
MCTS Windows Vista Client Configuration Passport (McGraw Hill, 2007), Windows XP Power Tools (Sybex, 2002), Outlook 2003 Bible (Wiley, 2004), Spring Into Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (Prentice Hall, 2005), and multiple books that have to do with actual windows.
Recent projects
Culp maintains his primary residence in Overland Park, Kansas - a technology hub in the middle of the country, and is currently authoring Practical Windows: How to Reduce Glare and Heat in Your Home for Everyday Windows due December 29, 2017, MCITP Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator All-in-One Exam Guide (Exams 70-640, 70-642, 70-643, 70-647, 70-620, 70-624), due July 4, 2009, a VTC video tutorial title on Apple Inc. Final Cut Pro and a soon to be released VTC tutorial for Apple Inc.'s Motion. His most recent projects include an ongoing column on digital filmmaking.
