Brandon Buchanan

Brandon Buchanan (born May 5, 1982) is a former At-Large Representative on the Eau Claire City Council. Brandon Buchanan was first elected to the City Council in 2006 at the age of 23, and is the youngest person to serve on council in Eau Claire's history.
Biography
Buchanan was born to a 19-year-old single mother in 1982. He attended Business Careers High School, and graduated in 2000. He ran for city council because with hopes to run for higher office some day. He is currently attending Marquette Law School.
Career
Buchanan graduated from UW-Eau Claire in December of 2005 with a double major in economics and political science. After his student career, He could still be found on campus helping to coach Eau Claire's award winning forensics team and meeting with Student Senate to stay up-to-date with critical student issues, such as help keep the music therapy program at the university.
On the City Council, Buchanan was a lead advocate for sustainability legislation that would make Eau Claire a greener city. He also pushed advocacy for mass transit and fought to preserve the evening bus service.
Resignation
Councilman Brandon Buchanan resigned from the Eau Claire City Council effective Tuesday, August 18th to attend Law School at Marquette in Milwaukee. Dana Wachs, a personal injury lawyer in Eau Claire, was elected by members of the council and will be sworn in on October 13th, 2009.
