Boo Koo is an energy drink with a very large amount of caffeine, similar to other energy drinks. Introduced in 2004, it was marketed with the advertising slogan "Boo Koo Means Big" (due to the 24 fl oz can size). The original size of the drink inspired the 24 oz. sizes of Rockstar energy and others. Boo Koo is also credited with being first-to-market with the 5.75 package (Boo Koo Shot). This compact can contained 180 mg of caffeine (roughly 2x the amount in caffeine found in competitors 8 and 12 oz cans. "Boo Koo" is a rough anglicization of the French word "beaucoup" (meaning "a lot"). Boo Koo Energy is operated in the United States under the company name Performing Brands, Inc. Boo Koo Energy and Performing Brands, Inc. filed for bankruptcy on December 19, 2008 and ceased all business operations.
