"Bohammed" is a satirical nickname for U.S. senator and 2008 Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, combining his name with that of the Prophet Muhammad. Its humor alludes to Obama's family connections with Islam, as well as rumors to the effect that he is secretly a Muslim. (Obama is a member of the United Methodist Church). The nickname was coined by Republican strategist Mike Murphy, perhaps accidentally (as an on-air stutter), and given coverage in the Shenanigans political column of Anne Schroeder Mullins.
