Bobby Catalano

Early life

Robert Anthony Catalano also known as Bobby Catalano was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Catalano first gained fame on the television program Dance Party USA. Starting as a dancer on the show and then later becoming the host of the hit dance show. He was considered in these times a teen idol who became very popular and was well known for his famous sunglasses which he only removed once a year on the Valentines Day show. Vogue Magazine reporter Lisa Robinson once reported, "He gets over 1000 letters a week. He has a sexy gravely voice, and has taken off his trade-mark sunglasses only once." Model magazine offered this comment. "As the records spin, the viewers wondered if Bobby Catalano will take off his omni-present shades." The Philadelphia Inquirer had this to say: "If only Bobby Catalano would take off his sunglasses, just imagine thousands of lovestruck girls would be so much happier." One sample quote from a teen magazine from the 1990s "Any discussion of the most gorgeous guys on any TV show wouldn't be complete without Bobby Catalano. Girls just go wild for a glimpse of Bobby's eyes behind those mysterious shades." In the course of the show's run, Catalano removed the shades only three times. Two Valentine "Lip Sync" performances, and a very special Christmas show where he and fellow regular Jason Pascoe performed as Wham. In 1993 he was cast in the film Zero Cool directed by Isaac Zepel.

Though Dance Party was a major factor in his current success, he, much like former DPUSA alumni Kelly Ripa, refuses to discuss his involvement with the show.

Recent Work

More recently Bobby Catalano has created a network of model websites similar to what you would see in Playboy. Currently he is an actor and producer in South America.
