Blue tickets have been used for several purposes.

* Contributors at Eton Montem were sold blue tickets as a proof that they had contributed.
* In Hungarian elections during the 1940s, voters could obtain blue tickets that allowed them to cast their vote outside of their home electoral district. During the 1949 elections, the Hungarian Communist Party used forged blue tickets to commit large-scale electoral fraud.
