Blood of Angels

Blood of Angels tells a story about the mythical Watcher Angels, who "abandoned Heaven for a taste of mortal love." According to legend, the angels were condemned to the earthly realm after uniting with mortals and sharing with them their mystical secrets. The lyrics draw upon ancient Enochian myths and explore the concept of these celestial beings.
Unlike Nox Arcana's other releases, which are primarily instrumental with minimal narratives, these songs feature both lyrical and musical content, with the vocals rising and falling from ethereal choirs to brooding, primal-sounding chants. The music ranges from haunting piano, violin and acoustic guitar to powerful symphonic pieces that have become the trademark sound of Nox Arcana.
Michelle Belanger wrote and performed the lyrics, exhibiting her classical training and a four-octave vocal range. She also performed as a guest vocalist on Nox Arcana’s 2005 album Winter’s Knight and performs with the Chicago-based goth-rock band URN.
Joseph Vargo and William Piotrowski wrote and performed the music. This is the sixth of seven full-length albums that Nox Arcana recorded in three years.
