A world-wide organization, whose mission is to promote positive ethics in Cycle racing. The democratic group was conceived in 2007 by three cycling journalists after drug scandals continued to mar the sport of professional road bicycle racing. Although always rumoured, doping in cyclesport came to the headlines in 1998. A doping scandal at the 1998 Tour de France known as the Festina affair. Several members of the team staff were arrested and convicted of trafficking and giving doping substances. Since then the (UCI) Union Cycliste Internationale along with the olympic endorced WADA have tried to curtail the endemic use of drugs to enhance ability. Without much success.
Bike-pure was designed as an independant, non-profit-making voice, for global cycling fans. The mission of the organisation being, to promote clean cycle sport for all. Mission statement: "Cycle racing is the most beautiful of sports. But has been polluted in the last decades by drug cheats. Athletes using artificial means to obtain victory and glory. . They continue to ruin our sport, so we are taking a stand. We want the exposed cheats to be banned from competition for life.bike-Pure's goal is to restore cycle racing's positive image and develop a long term code of ethics "

Scope and goals

The independant brand Bike-Pure has suceeded in getting professional racing cyclists and UCI ProTeams riders to sign up to a career long contract stating: "For the lenght of his/her professional career they promise never to use performance-enhancing drugs, To do their best to achieve victory using just talent and hard effort and to agree if ever caught using Performance enhancing drugs, that it is right and just that they should be banned for life from cycle sport. The membership of the organisation covers 12 countries and growing.

Future

Professional Cycling teams and sponsors linked with Bike-Pure will be seen to be supporting the new image of professionalcycling. Clean and Real. In the winter of 2008-2009 Bike-Pure targeted the UCI ProTour to sign up for a new dope free era of cycle racing and continued to be a open link between cyclesports fanbase and the athletes.
