Assault on Prashant Bhushan
In 2012, three members of the organization physically attacked Prashant Bhushan due to his controversial statement on the Kashmir issue.
One of the attackers said,"We will break the heads of those who will try to break India".
Six hours before the attack, BSKS had posted on their Facebook wall - "God give us power to complete our mission".
P. Chidambaram, the then Home Minister, condemned the attack.
He dispatched a representative to the hospital where Bhushan had been taken for a check-up. Bhushan described the activists as having a "fascist mindset" and stood by his statements. Bal Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena, praised the group. He added,"No mercy should be shown to the people who advocate the division of the country".
Protests
Arundhati Roy
The BSKS was involved in a violent protest against Arundhati Roy during the release of her collection of essays, named as Broken Republic. The group termed her essays to be "against India, Army & in favour of Kashmir aazadi".
Amarnath yatra duration
The BSKS locked the Jammu and Kashmir House in order to protest against the decrease in the Amarnath Yatra duration. BSKS said, "We want the duration of the Amarnath Yatra to increase to at least 120 days and our struggle will continue till our demand is met". The protesters were arrested for violating sections 107 and 151 of the Indian Penal Code.
Swami Agnivesh
The BSKS demanded an apology from Swami Agnivesh on his comments on an incident in which hostel warden of Visva-Bharati University forced a fifth grader to drink her urine, as a punishment for bedwetting. They said,"He should apologise for his comments otherwise he will be made to do what the girl was forced to do by her warden". BSKS chief said that the song Bharat Mata ki jai should be remove from the film. He expressed problems with the lyrics of the song.<ref nameibnlive/> He said,"Bharat Mata is not a person, it's not a political party, it's not a system either. She is like a goddess to every Indian. In our national song Vande Mataram, she is compared to the goddess Durga. And, here she is told to be the home of such diseases, so, we have a strong objection to it."<ref nameibnlive/>
