Bernardelli stores are a group of six shops in the centre of the city of Mantua. The boutiques are expression of a language, which tends to show the emotions of the city, given from the creativity and feelings surfaced from innovation and style appearing in the on-going research in an international context.

Background
It was the second half of the 70’s when the first Bernardelli shop was opened.
Immediately collections were submitted by emerging Armani, Versace, followed by Callaghan.,Missoni, Chloè, Kenzo, Ferrè, and many others.
Bernardelli was already a very exclusive and appreciated shop when in 1980 moved to the Corso Umberto I avenue, a sixteenth century court in the heart of the city centre and it remains its official home.

The operation of the architect G.F. Cavaglia has given this space a perfect tone of great breadth of classicism and modernity. It comprises nine showcases arranged on the front and on the right side. The interior space is divided by the light structures, moving from time to time, which created new spaces and new atmospheres. Has been certainly a prestigious space of minimalist style and great refinement.
This structure can accommodate any type of style: from minimalist, ethnic, to the lively and innovative Lacroix and classic Armani.
In the early 80’s together with Jean Paul Gaultier, came in the shop the avant-garde collection of the Japanese Rei Kawakubo with Comme des Garçons, Issey Miyake, Koji Tasuno, and a little later Yohji Yamamoto. Their presence in the store, with the exception of K.Tasuno, has been always present. Their great creativity has never been exhausted and continues to fascinate.
Around 1989 came the legendary style of "low profile" with Martin Margiela which created army of loyal followers.
Then followed the ultra-minimal Costume National. In those years, there was a great creativity in fashion and Bernardelli saw the best of it.
From New York was brought the great Zoran with no buttons on his garments and the ultra feminine Norma Kamali. The multi-coloured Paul Smith came from London with his accessories and new handbags .
At the beginning of the 90's the shop introduced Prada's clothing and later on Gucci's.
Naturally the brands were purchased both for women and men shop.
In 2000 were introduced in the shop Balenciaga, Hussein Chalayan, Celine, Givenchy,
a McCartney, Dior,Valentino and Lanvin.
After 2001 Bernardelli man moved to his present location Piazza Marconi square, in a neoclassical building on the top of two street of the historical centre.

Etre'
Etre' is the kingdom of Burberry and Polo Ralph Lauren, a classic and sophisticated touch that permits an everyday garment. Quality, courtesy, tradition as well as innovation characterize the activity of Etré .
Via Verdi 41
Via verdi 41, selling men's, English style,is the alter ego of Etre 'store. It offers shirts with details of Burberry tartan and coloured ones by Paul Smith. Among the accessories are present also Orciani's belts and Polo Ralph Lauren shoes.
Nike
NIKE at first sold only clothing for men then also women, younger and more aggressive but very refined. The shop is casual fashion, elegant fashion, for formal and informal occasions. It is a maison haute couture, incorporates finest designers, and also delicious accessories.
Bernardelli Man
Bernardelli is a synonym for modernity and luxury. With the ability of researching, continuous innovation and selection of various talent. The brand Bernardelli opens the collections offered on the market by differentiating and customizing management. The store is very popular both for the quality of products, and for the design of the lines.

Area Bernardelli was a space dedicated to different kind of exhibitions.
In the courtyard of Corso Umberto I avenue, there is a special location named "AREA Bernardelli”, just in front of the shop, arranged by Peter Bottazzi,. The space that was a cabinet of an ancient photographer became a charming gallery for exhibition.
Lectures on the history of fashion and costume
Since 2007/2008 Bernardelli stores along with the FAI (the Italian fund for environment) has organized meetings on the History of Costume. These events try to raise the awareness of citizens about the historical context of fashion and its evolutionary process. At these events have been present as guests Roberta di Camerino accompanied by the president of the chamber of fashion, Beppe Modenese. As a result Bernardelli stores promoted a series of lectures on the history of fashion and costume from the late Gothic to TWENTIETH CENTURY with various speakers as guests.
Camera dei Buyers
In 2000 the owners of Bernardelli along with 12 other colleagues founders constituted the Chamber of Buyers . In 2010 the Chamber buyers or, THE BEST SHOPS celebrated its tenth anniversary with 100 members.
The Italian Chamber of buyers is a non-profit organization that brings together the owners of Italian multi-brand stores of luxury. The aim of the CIBM is to promote any useful initiative supporting the progress of the sector in the social, economic, technical, and cultural and safeguard their interests against those directly and indirectly, in any location. The strengths and common interests of all associates are the prestige, the image, the history, a strong economic base and a large choice of brands, starting from the most prestigious brands on the fashion market.
