Bennie Brownlow

John Ben Brownlow (September 2, 1886 in Bunker Hill, Tennessee, USA) - ?) was a minor league baseball player and manager who is perhaps most notable for leading the Longview Cannibals to a league championship in 1926.
Playing career
Middle infielder Brownlow played from 1911 to 1927, missing 1918, 1919 and 1925. Over 14 minor league seasons, he played in 1,401 games.
Managerial career
Brownlow first managed the Durant Educators in 1911, although he managed the team for only part of the season. He next managed the Dallas Giants in 1916, but again he was manager for only a part of the year. He managed the Greenville Togs and the Greenville Staplers in 1922 and 1923, respectively. In 1924, he managed the Greenville Hunters, and in 1925 he managed the Austin Senators. He led the Longview Cannibals to an 83-39 record in 1926, giving them the league championship. The club won the Texas Class D Minor League Baseball Championship. He managed the Cannibals again in 1927, but the team withdrew from the league. He last managed the Lubbock Hubbers in 1928.
