Beit David neighborhood is the fourth Jewish neighborhood to have been built outside the walls of Jerusalem (in 1873). It lies on Rabbi Kook Street in the city center and is now mostly residential. The neighborhood is named for David Ryan, who founded it; the name also alludes to the historical House of David, and to the book known as Beit David, a treatise on Jewish law written by Joseph Ben David in the 18th century Among the places of interest located in the neighborhood is the Museum of Psalms a museum of the work of the artist Featuring the work of Moshe Tzvi HaLevi Berger, a 20th century Kabbalist and painter, and Rabbi Kook's house, the residence of Abraham Isaac Kook. the first Askenanzic chief rabbi of Palestine in modern times.
