Beer Looter Dude

The Beer Looter Dude is a popular character whose real identity is unknown, whose rise to fame occurred following hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States, at the end of August 2005. A photograph had been taken of a man walking in waist-deep flood water, carrying a plastic container of beer bottles (apparently Heineken). As there had been reports of widespread looting, it became assumed that the beer in this instance had been looted as well, and the picture propagated rapidly via the Internet. People found this amusing and some undertook to create derived images via photo manipulation; the result was a large array of humouristic pictures, all with the original person, now known as the Beer Looter Dude (abbreviated "BLD").
