Barrows mountain

History
The original name of Milan Hill in Milan, New Hampshire. First permanently settled around 1822 by John Ellingwood and his wife was Rachel Barrows and their family of sixchildren. Mr. Ellingwood was a farmer and deacon of the Methodist church. He died around 1830. His son Isaac was the first white child born on Milan Hill.
Milan Hill State Park
Milan Hill State Park is located ten miles north of Berlin near popular areas for hiking, picnicking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. From the hilltop campground and the fire tower located there, you can get a complete view of the mountain ranges in New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and Canada. The park has undergone an extensive renovation and this primitive camping area has added four yurts and relocated six campsites. State Park lands are always open for recreation ans no regular office hours are maintained, staff is routinely present in order to maintain this area.
