Dr. Barbara “Bobbi” Kurshan’s works on utilizing technology to improve learning opportunities for children. As a result, she has founded several successful companies focused on technology and education. Presently, Dr. Kurshan serves as Executive Director of Curriki - the Global Education & Learning Center, a site dedicated to creating a global community that will supply the finest Open Source Curricula. Dr. Kurshan created the first children's software products for Microsoft and also created award-winning products for Apple Computer, McGraw Hill, and CCC (Pearson). While a professor, she aided students in researching the impact technology has on learning. She also publishes articles based on her own research which explores female’s attitudes with regard to technology and how children use computers. Dr. Kurshan has been quoted in various prominent journals. She is a reviewer and advisor for research projects the National Science Foundation and other government and business groups perform. Dr. Kurshan currently serves on the boards of WorldSage, a for-profit higher education system that tackles education for the 21st Century and Interschola, a company established to help education clients convert idle assets into cash by selling products at auctions online, as well as other education technology companies, like Fablevision. Dr. Kurshan has received honors from the Education Academic Society's Making It Happen Award and the coveted Highest Leaf Award from the Women's Venture Fund. She is also found in Who's Who in Technology Today. Dr. Kurshan received her Ed.D. and M.S. from Virginia Tech and her B.S. from Newcomb College - Tulane University.
