Barack Hussein Obama Senior (1936–1982) was the father of the American politician and Presidential candidate Barack Obama. Barack Hussein Obama Senior was a Muslim born in Kenya. He met his wife while they were both college students in Hawaii, but the marriage broke up when he went to study at Harvard. Barack Obama Junior said the following about his father in a 2007 speech: "He and my mother divorced when I was only two years old, and for most of my life I knew him only through the letters he sent and the stories my mother and grandparents told." According to Scott Fornek of the Chicago Sun-Times, Barack Obama Senior was "essentially a polygamist". |
