Bankrrota is a punk rock band formed in 2002 in Medellín, Colombia. The band has only released 3 demos but has gained a name in the local underground scene having performed in many cities in Colombia. History The band began in March 2002 when Andres "Krbass" Carvajal (Bassist), Juan Ochoa (Drummer), Juan Restrepo (Guitarist/Vocals), Jose Maestre (Singer) and Camilo Isaza (Guitarist) joined to create a new punk rock band with such influences as NOFX, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Lagwagon and Bigwig. After two unreleased recordings, Jose and Camilo left the band and Phillipe Bouckenooghe and Christian Carmona joined. With various new songs, in January 2003 they decided to record their first EP named NO PUEDO PARAR, which gave them attention in the local music scene. By 2004 the band seemed to disappear when Juancho left. But in August they came back with new influences like Near Miss, Satanic Surfers, Belvedere and Rise Against. The band appeared with a new air and a more defined Hardcore Melodic Punk sound. In December 2004 they returned to the studio and in May 2005 finished the demo TIME TO CHANGE. Bankrrota applied for the 2005 Altavoz Festival where they participated as one of the 66 successful bands. 2006 began with Phillipe leaving the band, putting them in a difficult position as the band was at their peak. Christian and Krbass took over vocals and with Felipe Hincapie filling the second guitar the band began again. They performed a couple shows of in Medellín and the first show in Bogotá. At the end of 2006, with a new list of songs, Juan Fernando Sanchez joined as lead vocalist. In April 2007, Bankrrota recorded their third demo named RESURRECCION. In the same year, they again played in the Altavoz Festival, gaining more local fans.
