Ballistic Advantage is an American firearms company founded by Adam Wainio in 2008. Ballistic Advantage specializes in the production of rifle barrels, including the proprietary BA Hanson profile, and aftermarket replacement parts for the AR-10 and AR-15 category of rifle. In December 2014 Ballistic Advantage partnered with another US firearms manufacturer and now operates as an independent subsidiary of Aero Precision, a portfolio company of White Wolf Capital, a private equity firm. The company name comes from the sniping term "ballistic advantage." Ballistic advantage is the concept whereby a sniper seeks engagements over 400 meters, beyond the normal effective range of enemy riflemen fire. AR Replacement Parts The BA Hanson Series Barrel In July 2011, the company introduced its proprietary BA Hanson barrels. The barrel's main performance enhancements to the AR-15 platform are reduced angles and an optimized gas system that reduces felt recoil by balancing the gas flow. To improve barrel harmonics and unwanted vibrations, gradual tapers from breech to muzzle have lessened these side effects. The smooth contour and low profile construction improves accuracy by eliminating right angles in the barrel design. Bolt Carrier Groups After partnering with Aero Precision in late 2014 the company began offering bolt carrier groups (BCG) to the marketplace. Found on almost all gas operated firearms BCG's perform the cyclic function of the weapon Low Profile Gas Blocks In June 2014 the manufacturing scope of firearm components was again broadened by the introduction of gas block production. Low profile gas blocks reduce weight and make gas tube alignment easier. Standard gas blocks sizes are .625, .750, .875 and .936 diameters. Lower Receivers In 2015 Ballistic Advantage began production of receivers. Lower receivers are the serialized portion of a firearm and are legally controlled by each state. BA lowers are forged 7075-T6 aluminum, hard anodized, and include a threaded tension pin to ensure proper fit.
