Balkan Holidays is an independent specialist UK holiday tour operator to Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Serbia and Romania.
Balkan Holidays offer a wide range of both summer and winter holidays including beach, lakes and mountain, golf, city breaks, touring, cruising and skiing & snowboarding holidays.
Balkan Holidays parent company also owns it’s own charter airline called BH Air (Balkan Holidays Airlines), 3 hotels within the popular beach resort of Sunny Beach on the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria and 4 hotels in the popular skiing resort of Bansko in Bulgaria.
The parent company of Balkan Holidays has also in recent years invested heavily into the infrastructure within the resort of Bansko in the Bulgaria mountains. This investment into Bansko has resulted in new visitors using new ski lifts, an increase in the number of ski runs, snow cannons to improve skiing condition plus a number of quality four and five star hotels and the resort of Bansko is now widely acknowledged as Eastern Europe best ski resort.
Operations
Summer Holidays to Bulgaria
Balkan Holidays offer their customers a choice of over 150 hotels, apartments and villas to 12 different resorts on the popular Black Sea coast and 2 resorts within the picturesque Bulgarian mountains from a selection of 22 UK departure airports. They currently offer flights to Bourgas Airport in the South, as well as being the only UK operator to fly into Varna Airport in the North and to Bulgaria's capital Sofia.
Summer Holidays to Croatia
Balkan Holidays offer their customers the opportunity to discover breathtaking islands and resorts within the Dubrovnik Riviera, Central Dalmatia and the Istrian and Kvarner regions of Croatia. Balkan Holiday currently offer a selection of over 130 hotels, apartments and villas to 29 different cities, resorts and islands and offer flights to Dubrovnik Airport, Pula Airport and Split Airport on scheduled, charter and low-cost airlines.
Ski Holidays to Bulgaria
Balkan Holidays offer their customers the choice of over 50 hotels and apartments in the ski resorts of Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo. They currently offer flights to Bulgaria's capital Sofia from 7 UK departure airports on both scheduled and charter airlines.
Ski Holidays to Slovenia
Balkan Holidays offer their customers the choice of 50 hotels and apartments in the ski resorts of Bled, Bohinj and Kranjska Gora. They currently offer flights to Slovenia's capital Ljubljana on scheduled airlines.
Accommodation Only
Balkan Holidays also offer customers who have already booked or are planning on booking their flights independently the choice of booking a wide range of hotels, studios, apartments or villa's on its own, rather than as a package. These range from budget hotel up to luxury apartments in both Bulgaria and Croatia.
Flight Only
Balkan Holidays also offer customers the option of booking a low cost flights to Bulgaria or Croatia as a flight only without any accommodation, perfect for anyone who have their own's an apartment overseas and just need a cheap flight.
Self Catering, Bed and Breakfast, Half Board, Full Board and All Inclusive Holidays
Balkan Holiday offer their customers the choice of booking holidays on a wide range of board basis from self catering up to all inclusive. Over the last few seasons the popularity of all inclusive holidays have grown. Balkan Holidays now offer more than 50 holidays on all inclusive in Bulgaria alone.
History
Balkan Holidays Ltd. was formed in 1966 and was Bulgarian state-owned until 1999, when it was privatised.
Due to the popularity of Bulgaria as a mainstream summer holiday destination, Balkan Holidays passenger numbers rose to a peak of 142,000 people. Balkan Holidays Croatia programme has also seen growth since privatisation, from 400 passengers in 2000 to a peak of 10,000 people in more recent years.
Balkan Holidays more recently launched a new website with improved customer navigation and experience.
