About Chef Badrul Hisham Alias Chef Badrul Hisham is the third-in-line generation of chefs. His grandfather, Mahdar Bin Haji Taib was a well known cook, catering for wedding functions around Pontian, Johor in the early 1900s. History was that his grandfather also once had to cook for the Sultan of Johor at the Royal Palace for a royal function. Mahdar then taught his third son, Abdul Jalil all the skills of cooking in bulk, as Abdul Jalil was seen as the one of his son who always interested in following his footsteps of a chef. In his childhood and teenager, Chef Badrul, as he was always known by colleagues, often helped his mother in preparing food ingredients for her to cook as his mother was a hawker in a foodstall in Singapore. He would wake up in early morning, before going to school, had to fry currypuffs, banana fritters and other food that his mother needed to sell. At 17, he joined Singapore Armed Forces, and was posted to the School Of Army Catering as a Cook On-the-Job training programme (OJT ). After his OJT training, Chef Badrul was attached to the “Luncheon Club”, a fine dining section in MINDEF Singapore, and the ”Function Wing”, a section of a kitchen that caters for high ranking army officers and VVIPs at the School Of Army Catering. From here, he was gradually promoted as a Trainer to teach and train new army cooks for other army units. It was in the army that his passion grew to be a chef. He always followed his uncle Abdul Jalil whenever he was in his free time to assist his uncle cook for wedding functions. He then left the Singapore Armed Forces to join other food and beverage establiments such as hotels and restaurants to develope and upgrade his knowledge and skills in culinary. OBJECTIVE: Through consistent delivery of the highest standards of food, a passionate approach to exceeding the guests expectations and as a champion of our vision and values, promote a professional and positive image to all guests and contribute to the hotels targets.Enthusiasm to build a reputation and career in this vibrant and exciting environment.And maintain standards of food and kitchen hygiene.
