Baba Buta Singh

Baba Buta Singh (1873 - 1943) was the founder of Sant Nirankari Mission.
Early life
He was born in Village Hudwal, Distt. Kaimalpur (Pakistan). His parents were Mr Bishan Singh and Mrs Mayawanti.
He was very much spiritually inclined and was a good orator of scriptures.
Singh and his wife led a very simple life and always remained content with whatever they had. He had a brief stint in the Army and later, left the job and adopted the art of tattooing for livelihood.
Foundation of Sant Nirankari Mission
The Sant Nirankari Mission had its formal beginning on May 25, 1929, the day when Baba Avtar Singh met Baba Buta Singh. Baba Avtar Singh joined him in taking this mission to the masses. Initially they were opposed vehemently by some sections of the society.
Teachings
Baba Buta Singh referred to God as Formless (Nirankar) i.e. One without Form. That's how mission was named as Sant Nirankari Mission. He stressed on mindful remembrance of the formless Almighty God (Nirankar) while performing all worldly duties. He preached loving devotion, humility and selfless service along with the company of enlightened souls for a blissful life.<ref name":1" /><ref name":0" />
