Awks as forks

The phrase 'Awks as forks' was created by Hannah Ingrey, so for any fraudsters out there who think they can take credit, you are mistaken. It's brilliance lies in the fact that it rhymes. Awks is stemmed from the word awkward, forks is obviously an eating utensil.
The Revolution
This phrase was the start of an amazing revolution, of a crazy language, it was closely followed by Silent as Spoons, which also refers to an awkward moment. The revolution also involves phrases such as naughty as knives, however it also ranges further than kitchen related objects, such as erd (a foolish walrus type person). The latest fixation/addition is princox, which was discovered whilst studying Romeo and Juliet which translates into a cocky person.
Where does it come from?
