Avery Nesbitt

Avery Nesbitt (born January 2, 1980) is an American network engineer best known as a Community Creator for Fusion; the young adult ministry of Victory World Church in. He is also the co-founder and President of Sunday to Sunday, Inc.
Early Life and Education
Nesbitt was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he was raised by his mother. His father died before he was born; leaving his mother to raise Nesbitt and his older brother on her own. She was a bank teller who worked her way up to Branch Bank Manager of a local county credit union. Nesbitt describes his childhood home as always full of laughter and excitement. His attraction to computers started when he was eleven years old after his mother brought home a discarded company computer. He originally wanted to become a Commercial Artist but after spending hours piddling with the machine, he managed to cause a humming sound. His mind was made up; he would find a career in computers. He became one of the first kids in his middle school to turn in an assignment using a word processor. His uncles taught him how to take things apart, and it wasn't long before Nesbitt was taking everything in the house apart, including his mother’s VCR remote control. “I just wanted to see how things worked. From a very early age, I realized I not only wanted to see the way things worked, but to make them work better. I really became interested in technology and business. So probably from when I was 12 I knew I wanted to start a company," Nesbitt says.
Nesbitt graduated a year early to become part of the class of 1997 from Boyd H. Anderson High School, where he was a founding member of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. After high school he was accepted into Bethune-Cookman University but after a visit to the campus decided his future lay elsewhere.
Military
In September of 1997 Nesbitt enlisted into the United States Marine Corps as an Aviation Logistics Tactical Information Systems(ALTIS); an Aviation Information Technology section of the U.S. Marine Corps. While enlisted, he attended (NSCS) for 9 months learning the latest in military technology and advanced tactical information systems. In 1999, Nesbitt was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal E-3 and soon after graduated the ALTIS training. Nesbitt's first duty station would be Marine Corps Air Station Yuma (MCAS Yuma) where he was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13 as an Aviation Information System Department technician. (now called Aviation Logistics Information Maintenance Support Department) Here he developed both the leadership and technical skills that would carry him throughout the rest of his career. After 6 years of faithful service he was discharged in 2001, having obtained a Confidential Security Clearance and the rank of Corporal, E-4.
Faith
Nesbitt's conversion to Christianity came in February of 1998, at the age of 18. While walking through a local mall someone invited him to church where "God opened his heart to the salvation message." It was at this service that Nesbitt decided "This time it was going to be for real. This time it would be forever." Nesbitt's commitment to Christ lead him to find a local church where he could live out his faith in community. His search lead him to of Yuma , AZ, where his military unit was stationed. In an interview, Nesbitt stated he sat under one of the greatest Bible teachers he's ever known, William Coolidge. It was through Door Christian Fellowship that he turned his eyes to the lost of the world by going on his first missions trip to Belize City, Belize. There he saw a land where prosperity and poverty live side by side. Seeing firsthand what corruption and neglect could do to a people, his heart was greatly moved for the hurting, dirty, and dying of the world. When he returned to the states he saw the same poverty in border towns of the U.S. and Mexico. Nesbitt would later say; "This was the first of many defining moments for me. How could this kind of poverty exist this close to the U.S. and we not do anything about it?" He served at Door Christian Fellowship for 3 years until 2001 when he reached the end of his military tour of duty.
In 2002 Nesbitt relocated to Atlanta, GA and found Victory World Church. After attending service he quickly became heavily involded with Fusion; the Young Adult Ministry of the church.
After finding Fusion, Nesbitt dove head first into the not only reaching out to those around him by leading several Life Development Groups (now called Fusion V-Groups) and by participating in four missionary trips to Nicaragua with LifeLink International. These trips laid the foundation that Nesbitt would soon build upon in Atlanta. In 2006 Nesbitt was appointed as a Community Creator for Fusion's Life Development Groups small groups. He was now charged with leadership and curriculum development for the small group ministry. In 2010 Nesbitt was appointed as a District Pastor over the Fusion Life Development Groups.
Business
Nesbitt and his wife, Deola Obasun Nesbitt, wanted to continue their family tradition of missionary work but did not want to leave the U.S. so soon after the birth of their first child. Nesbitt said; "Then it hit us. Why not do the same thing we would do in Managua, Nicaragua; right here in Atlanta?” This thought became the inspiration for Sunday to Sunday, Inc; a Ga based non-profit organization aimed at connecting individuals with organizations; aiding the people of Atlanta. Nesbitt is the co-founder and President of Sunday to Sunday and sits on its Board of Directors.
Personal life
Nesbitt married Deola Obasun in the town center of Duluth, GA, on October 22, 2005. In 2008 Deola Obasun Nesbitt gave birth to their first child; Ava Elise Nesbitt.
