 Synopsis
In Kerala, the problem of stray dogs is the most controversial issue now.
Recently, an old lady was killed by stray dogs in a coastal village and
bites and attacks by stray dogs on bike riders, street walkers and pets are
also reported from different locations. After the killing of the old lady, the mindset
of the majority turned against Stray Dogs. When the Kerala government
decided to kill stray dogs because of the increasing threat they posed to
human lives, Animal Rights campaigners are up in arms against the
state. Faced with criticism, the government was forced to drop the
plan. However, a few people started killing stray dogs and started
showing their dead bodies publicly, even though it is against the
existing law based on 'Prevention of cruelty to animals act.' Such incidents
are increasing day by day. Even dog lovers are not getting enough
space to make their voices heard.
