Auburn Village School

Auburn Village School is a public elementary and middle school in Auburn, New Hampshire, in the United States. It is the only school in the town and graduates approximately 125 students a year. It teaches children from kindergarten to 8th grade. It was founded in 1929 and has experienced major growth throughout its existence.
History
Before Auburn Village School, or AVS, was built, the town of Auburn had several small school houses spread across the area. There was a school on the site of AVS, but it was dismantled when plans for a new school were issued by the town. The school was built in 1928 and finished in 1929. The main building is currently the lobby, office and elementary hallway. The building has grown several times over the decades. A large hallway, along with over 20 new classrooms, were added in 1982. A cafeteria was built in 1985 and a gymnasium was added in 1990. Portable buildings were built in 1992, and a large soccer field was built next to the Auburn Village Cemetery in 1999, putting the school's size to its current state.
Academics
AVS teaches basic learning skills, such as Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science, as well as several classes students can choose, such as French, Spanish, Video News, Technical Education, Chorus, etc. In 2011, Principal Ron Pedro offered students the opportunity to choose their own classes. Teachers created ten new classes. Global Explorations, a worldwide culture class, was terminated in January 2012 due to apparent laziness among students. However, many classes still are used.
Afters-school programs
The school offers after-school classes and activities, such as school band, basketball, soccer, etc. Every January, students in elementary school get to choose to snowboard or ski at McIntyre Ski and Snowboard Park in Manchester, while middle schoolers go to Pats Peak in Henniker.
