Atefeh Farzindar

Atefeh Farzindar is an entrepreneur and a pioneer in the electronic translation industry, a professor and an artist born and living in Montreal. Originally from Iran, Atefeh's art work is deeply influenced by the ancient Persian world and the infamous Tales of One Thousand Nights And A Night.
Education
In 2005, Atefeh Farzindar received her Ph.D degree of Computer Science from Université de Montréal and her doctorate of languages, Computer and Cognition from Paris-Sorbonne University. She gathered academic and industrial experience in various positions in industry and academia. Her curriculum was not only consecrated to her field of business. In fact, she studied fine arts, painting and sculpture at École des Beaux-Arts de Versailles.

Atefeh Farzindar is the founder of NLP Technologies Inc. a company specializing in Natural Language Processing, Electronic Document Summarization of structured texts such as legal decisions, Qualitative Search solutions and Machine Translation. Since 2005, the federal and provincial governments in canada have been clients of NLP’s automated legal analysis service called DecisionExpress™ and TRANSLI™ a machine translation solution.
NLP Technologies Inc. is an advanced technology firm, specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP), information and intelligent systems. NLP is a leading developer of language service solutions, notably automatic translation and summarization tools, adopting innovative technologies in order to deliver a high quality product. The main office located at 52 Le Royer street West, Montréal, Québec.
In January 2009, she became a member of the Board of Directors of LTRC of Canada, a centre for language technologies research. In March 2003, the Government of Canada released the Action Plan for Official Languages, which announced the intention to create the LTRC. By doing so, the government's goal was to support Canadian research in the language industry and the development of new solutions in language technology.
Teaching
Atefeh is the adjunct professor at the Department of Computer Science, RALI lab at Université de Montréal. RALI's personnel includes computer scientists and linguists with considerable experience in natural language processing. It is the largest university NLP laboratory in Canada. She is also a lecturer at École Polytechnique de Montréal, in the field of Marketing of High Technology Products and Innovations-Department of Industrial Engineering.
Art
Atefeh Farzindar studied fine arts, painting and sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts de Versailles and took a two-year training program at the Ateliers Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris. Her work depicts her journey across various cultures, between the Orient and the Occident. Atefeh draws her inspiration from Antique and handicrafts such as handwoven Persian carpets, pottery, and other arts. Having painted in Montreal, Paris and Tehran for the past fifteen years, she collaborates with Magazin’Art, in which she is listed in the 2011-2013 Biennial Guide to Canadian Artists. A member of TRAM- a non-profit organization of artists and lovers of art in the Town of Mont-Royal since 2009 - she has participated in both group and solo exhibitions. She has participated in over a 35 national and international exhibitions, the which include 26 group exhibitions and 7 individual exhibitions in Montreal and Tehran.
