Aso Mohammed Ibrahim

Aso Mohammed Ibrahim is an Iraqi Kurd who is known for being the driver in a hit and run incident which killed the twelve-year-old Amy Houston while he was driving without a licence or insurance and was already on bail for offences of driving while disqualified. Ibrahim is an Iraqi Kurd who came to United Kingdom seeking political asylum but it was rejected. He has also been arrested for possession of cannabis.
Court case
Ibrahim won a right to indefinite stay in United Kingdom as he had 2 children with a British woman. A decision which outraged the British Public including the Prime Minister David Cameron. The Government said it would appeal the decision.
On the 8th April 2011, the appeal hearing went before the at the Royal Court of Justice. The appeal was heard by Lord Justice Sullivan and Lord Justice Gross. Representing the Secretary of State for the Home Department, Gerard Clarke of Blackstone Chambers, presented the grounds for appeal. In conclusion to the hearing the Lord Justices said that there had been no error in Law, but heavily criticised how the case to remove Ibrahim from the UK had been fundamentally flawed due to the failure to present key facts that would have allowed the Designated Immigration Judges to reach a balanced decision.
Lord Justice Gross stated for the record that if he had been one of the Designated Immigration Judges at the Upper Tribunal for Immigration and Asylum, and had he been presented with a case that had sought to remove Ibrahim from the UK on a permanent basis with all relevant key facts, then the outcome would have been much different.
