Ashwin Gupta (born July 6, 1988) is a Indian film maker who is now residing on Fogo Island, Newfoundland and Labrador. Career Gupta grew up in New Delhi and graduated highschool when he has only 16. Gupta came to Newfoundland in 2005 from India to pursue higher studies. After completing a double major in BSc, physics, and applied mathematics, he decided to follow his interest in film making and theatre. Since then, he has directed multiple short films including videos for Memorial University of Newfoundland, documentaries and short films. He also works as a freelancer for CBC, creating mini-documentaries for radio and web. Gupta is currently working as the Digital Projects Coordinator for Fogo Island Arts Corporation. Achievements Ashwin Gupta plays an active role in the revival of cricket in Newfoudland and Labrador. He is the secretary of the Newfoundland & Labrador Cricket Association, and has helped collect more than 100 players from across the province. Gupta has also led a project at MUN called the International Student Video Project, which is a set of videos that address the pre-arrival, settlement, and integration needs of international students through the production of videos aimed at providing informative orientation content. He mentored, filmed, and directed all videos within this project. Ashwin Gupta is a freelance artist, and works for CBC, making short web shows titled Tech Guru. They explain many topics involving many questions and answers about modern day technology.
