Artur Samarin

Artur Samarin is a Ukrainian native who posed as a high school student named Asher Potts and enrolled at John Harris High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in the fall of 2012. He was arrested on February 23, 2016 and charged with identity theft, tampering with public records, statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors. Artur was known as a model student having one of the highest grade point averages of 4.16, volunteering at a food bank and being a member of ROTC.
Background
In 2012 Samarin arrived in the U.S. on a 3-month J1 Exchange Visitor Visa valid from June to September. After his visa expired, he obtained fake identification documents for himself under the name of Asher Potts. Documents included Pennsylvania driver license, U.S. birth certificate and Social Security Card. He subsequently used them to apply to John Harris High School .
