Apurv Gupta

Apurv Gupta (born 5 January 1994) is the Youth President of the United Nations Association UK(UNA-UK). He was appointed after winning national youth elections in May 2013.Gupta also serves as President of the Edinburgh UNA Youth Branch and Vice-President of the ‘on campus’ society of UNICEF UK Gupta currently studies International Relations and Law at The University of Edinburgh.
Early life and education
Gupta was born and brought up in Chandigarh, India and attended Vivek High School. During his school life, he was involved closely with the student council and headed the Round Square Student Body.
Gupta currently studies International Relations and Law at The University of Edinburgh.
Social Work
Since 2008, Gupta has been actively involved in social work around the globe. From building greenhouses for village communities in Peru to helping child victims of human trafficking on the road to recovery in Thailand.
Youth Presidency
Apurv Gupta is the President of the Edinburgh branch of United Nations Association Youth, United Kingdom.
Although exact roles of the office of the Youth President, United Nations Association UK are not determined, the entire Youth Council aims to coordinate and manage activities of the various UNA Youth Branches across the United Kingdom.
UNFCCC COP 19, Warsaw 2013
In an interview conducted by Climate Change TV at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP 19 held in Warsaw, Poland in November 2013, Gupta highlighted the notion that participation of young people, even though it was significant, at the conference it was of little importance as national governments decide their political and economic stance in their countries itself. He also demanded that young people at the COP were given increased importance after the visit of the UN Secretary General's Special Envoy on Youth, Mr. Ahmad Alhindawi visited. However, maintained that the challenge of climate change was a matter to be educated with and among young people who were not present in Warsaw.
