Ape Chronicles

Ape Chronicles is the fanzine newsletter magazine of the Planet Of The Apes Fan Club published ongoing since 1991. It is the foundation of Fan club based promotion of the Planet Of The Apes science fiction series.

Ape Chronicles is the fanzine of the Planet Of The Apes Fan Club (not affiliated directly with 20th Century Fox). It is the longest running Planet Of The Apes themed fanzine publication and the longest running fan club. Planet of the Apes Fan club was started in 1991 by Terry Hoknes in response to a new promotion of the Planet Of The Apes franchise through comic books put out by Adventure Comics during 1990-1993.

Ape Chronicles fanzine was published bi-monthly from 1991 to 1998. At that time the website was established which is currently found at PlanetOfTheApesFanClub.com. Regular frequent publishing of Ape Chronicles began again in 2008.
Contents of Ape Chronicles
To this date 45 different issues have been published and all issues are always kept in print at the fan club website. The fanzine and fan club was created as a way to unite fans of the science-fiction series and to gather current news in the fanzine including reviews, original artwork, original fan fiction, biographies, interviews and original comic strips. Some highlights of issues include #23 - the merchandise issue and issues with interviews with the likes of Linda Harrison and Roddy McDowall. Regular features of Ape Chronicles include "Encyclopedia" which is an indepth breakdown of every character, place and event in each movie, tv episode and comic strip. "The Lawgivers" features extensive biographies of cast and crew of the movies and TV shows including full filmographies. Rare unused scripts as well as new original fan fiction is also present in many issues.
