Ansel Faraj is an independent American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his comic book inspired "Adam Sera Trilogy", which includes the films Old Friends (2010), The Burning Within (2012), and The Haunted Men (2013). His style alternates between the surreal and Germanic; to realistic almost documentary style filmmaking, and he usually produces two or three pictures a year. Career Faraj has worked in various genres such as comedy with his film Brother Drop Dead (2012), a stylized look at a hillbilly family; contemporary drama with the films Life...Temporarily (2007) and The General Specific (2011); musical, with a psychedelic rock opera version of Faust (2009), set in Venice, California; but his primary work is almost always drawn to the strange and unusual, evidenced in the dark comedy Mr. Twistedface (2011), about a young disfigured man who mutilates people in order to make himself feel normal; Hangover Square (2009), adapted from Patrick Hamilton's novel; and his H.P. Lovecraft inspired film Hunters of the Dark (2011). His upcoming film Doctor Mabuse, inspired by the character created by Norbert Jacques, which stars Dark Shadows cast members Jerry Lacy as Dr. Mabuse, Kathryn Leigh Scott as Madame Von Harbau, and Lara Parker as Madame Carrozza, along with Nathan Wilson as Inspector Carl Lohemann, and Linden Chiles as Inspector Norbert Von Wenk - is scheduled for release in May 2013. Collaborations Faraj frequently works with the same collaborators, such as actors Linden Chiles, Mihran Konanyan, Nathan Wilson, Matthew Greene, Vivian Brasch, and composer Bill Wandel. He founded his production company Hollinsworth Productions in 1997.
