Anne-Laure Bonnel

Anne-Laure Bonnel is a French war correspondent and documentary film director. She is known for her 2016 documentary Donbass and for her 2020 documentary Silence dans le Haut-Karabagh.
Bonnel's coverage of the conflict in the Donbas region was flagged as fake due to misinterpretation and misleading statement on number of deaths and casualties. On French conservative 24-hour news channel CNews, Bonnel stated the war has already been going on for 8 years and has caused 13,000 deaths, all Ukrainians. According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), casualties by March 2022 did number 13,000, they break down into 3,350 civilians, some 4,100 Ukrainian soldiers and the remaining (another 5,650) members of pro-Russian armed groups”. She stated that the government has been bombing its own Ukrainian, Russian-speaking population in the Donbas region. StopFake.org stated her documentary movie was referencing messages used in the Russian propaganda, and the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated the French government prevented Bonnel from airing her report "on the alleged bombing, shelling and killing of civilians by the Ukrainian military in the Russian separatist regions."
