Angel Bouchet is a blues vocalist who performs both new and used material. Her music has been featured in the television show Portlandia. History Bouchet began singing as a young girl, but blues didn't become her metier until she discovered it as an adult. She began her career performing at weddings before starting her first band in 2009, under the name, Angel Bouchet and her Stormy Monday Blues Band. Later, Bouchet changed the name of the band to make promotion easier, and currently they perform as the Angel Bouchet Band. The Band covers the gamut from traditional blues to rock, funk, and Latin-based blues. Bouchet fronts the band and directs while sharing the spotlight with her musicians, some of whom are vocalists as well. Songs "Bad For You" and "Dirty Little Angel" were written in 2011. The latter is Bouchet's response to the blues standard, "Sweet Little Angel", sometimes called "Sweet Black Angel", originally recorded by Lucille Bogen in 1930. Dirty Little Angel is the song Bouchet was performing in the background of season 2, episode 8 of Portlandia, with blues musician Sonny Hess playing guitar. "The Preacher" was written in August 2012. It is a traditional, 12 bar blues, in a style often associated with Muddy Waters and other early blues musicians. "The Preacher" was written just after Bouchet had been laid off.
