Shaxi () is a natural and old-line town located in the south of Suzhou in Jiangsu province in Eastern China. It covers an area of fifty five square kilometers. Thera are sixteen committees in Shaxi, fifteen of which are village committees and the last is resident committee. The small town consists of about 6,1000 domicile population and over 8,ooo non-domicile people. Due to the circumstance that it possesses more than 80,000 relatives who are now living in Hongkong, Macao or abroad, Shaxi is also konwn for the title of Qiao Town. It is estimated that Shaxi has a history of eight hundred years. Having experiencing such a long historic time, Shaxi, also famous as Culural Town, owns deep cultural heritage, concerning from natural senic spots, art masters to different kinds of folk culture. |
