Amsterdam tram line 12

Current Route
From July 22, 2018, the day that operations on the started, line 12, coming from Amstel station, was moved from Van Baerlestraat over the former route of line 5 via Paulus Potterstraat and Leidsestraat to the Central Station . Line 19 has taken over the route from Leidseplein (via Marnixstraat ) to Sloterdijk station . Only line 3 now runs between Van Baerlestraat and Bilderdijkstraat.
Past plans for the line
In the Schedule of Requirements that the Amsterdam City Region had drawn up for a private tender on January 1, 2012, a route change was announced for line 12 via Van Woustraat . However, this change did not take place.
The 2014 transport plan included the intention to route the route of line 12 along Leidseplein, which would provide this square with a direct connection to two NS stations, though this would mean a detour for most passengers. The diversion was comparable to the 'detour' that line 3 made from 1904 until the arrival of the tracks on the Vondelbrug in 1958.
Large infrastructure changes were required at Leidsebosje and in the end this plan did not go ahead.
