Amrut Deshmukh

Amrut Deshmukh (born July 7,1981 ), born in Thane, India, is a Chartered Accountant by Education and is the founder of the "Booklet" app. He is the first person in India who is on a mission to cultivate the habit of reading amongst the youth of India. Misson “Make India Read”.
Early life
Amrut was born in Thane, India,and attended SVPT Saraswati Vidyalaya. As a child, Amrut used to hate the idea of reading books unrelated to his academics. After Class 12, he studied Commerce and became a Chartered Accountant in 2006.
He worked at a stockbroking firm, earning a handsome six-figure salary for more than six years.
In 2015, he read a book and narrated its story to his friend at a multiplex. He realized that he had great storytelling skills and could use them to inspire a generation of non-readers to develop the healthy habit of reading.
Career
Amrut, after finishing of his professional education in 2006, worked for four years as research analyst, post which he started his own firm as a chartered accountant. One day, he started talking to his friend about the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R Covey that he had just finished reading. His friend was so gripped by his narration that he casually suggested the idea of writing book summaries.
Amrut then decided to summarise the books he reads, and share the summaries with his friends on WhatsApp. One automatically finds time to do something they love, and hence, Amrut thought of reviving the habit of reading in those who had disconnected from it, and at the same time, nurture the habit among the youth. He, therefore, set himself on a ‘Make India Read’ mission on 15th August, 2015.While a few ignored his messages, many willingly went through them and responded only to read about more books from him. Gradually, his readership crossed 1000, and kept increasing. These reviews would be sent on WhatsApp, which, beyond a point, began to crash, and for Amrut, it was getting difficult to manage his agenda there. On the other hand, the number of readers was only growing, with several new readers joining him everyday. He didn’t want to disappoint even a single one, and considering the growing readership, Amrut decided to launch his ‘Booklet’ app - an idea he had conceived long back - on the occasion of World Books Day this year.<ref name="auto" /> Today, up to 1,00,000 people are connected with him on Whatsapp and 50,000 on the Booklet app.<ref name="sakaaltimes.com" />
