The Ameraucana-Cochin is a chicken crossbreed between an Ameraucana and a Cochin. It exhibits a very interesting combination of traits inherited from both parental breeds, the most notable of which are discussed below. From the Ameraucana it obtains a muff and beard, pea comb, and blue-tinted eggs. From the Cochin it obtains feathered-feet, relatively soft and fluffy plumage, and small vulture hocks. Although this hybrid technically may be placed in the Easter Egger category, this blanket term is usually used to denote chickens with unknown ancestry and laying blue eggs. Since the Ameraucana-Cochin obtains distinct characteristics from both of its purebred parents, it really exists in a separate category from Easter Eggers.
