Modeling
Van Annan was scouted at the age of 16 by Premier Model Management in London but ended up joining Unique Model Management, who were introduced to her by a make up artist. Within the first week she was shooting for Telegraph Magazine and then modeled for Vidal Sassoon. She has appeared in print advertisements for Ebel Swiss watches and Woolworths Group; and was featured in a commercial for Revlon. Amanda is a cofounder of Extension Evolution with fellow British actress Judi Shekoni.
Personal life
Van Annan is the niece to the former secretary general of the united nations Kofi Annan. She also plays an active role in CAMFED, a charity that supports the education of young girls in Africa. She is also the cofounder of the women's education charity Etcetera.
