Amadeo Barrios

Amadeo Barrios (born January 8 1953 in Martinez, California) is an American musician. He grew up in Oakland and San Francisco CA and started playing music at the age of 8 years, and the drums at 10 years, along with guitar, bass and organ.

Barrios recorded his first record at the age of 13 with his brother Adrian Barrios (bass), David Vega (guitar) played with Graham Central Station, and Dave Neft. The song released on 45 rpm Something's Wrong was later added to a compilation LP titled Tony and The Tiger Present's Fuzz,Flakes and Shakes Vol 4.

In 1967 Amadeo met Max Weiss (co-owner) Fantasy Records whom took an interst in his music and offered him a production deal. Max had also discovrered Creedence Clearwater Revival before selling of the record company. Durning this period he began to study with Bay Area Drum Guru Chuck Brown.

In 1971 Amadeo played with local rock band The Rockets and several other bay area bands and met Larry Graham from Sly and the Family Stone and Graham Central Station. At this time Larry was putting together the band Little Sister and Amadeo was working with members of that band, David Vegas, Willie Sparks, Hershall Kennedy and other's from the band. Ths group of musician's became members of Graham Central Station.

By 1973 Amadeo joined with The Fabulous Sylvester James, Sylvester and The Hot Band. This band consisted of Amadeo Barrios on drums, Adrian Barrios on bass, Archie White keyboards, and Angel Reyes on Guitar. Amadeo also brought in Biancia Thorton, Jerry Curby and another female vocalist. Amadeo and Adrian stayed on til they joined up with Lenny Williams in mid 1975. (To be contiuned)
