Alternative Medicine Treatments for Kidney Failure

I read one reference, one time, in an obscure book on herbal medicine that claimed that the herb goldenrod could actually be used to re-grow kidney tissue, which is a large claim to make. It is easy to find herbal remedies in health food stores, and goldenrod is usually found in combination with horsetail, which is also reputed to be an excellent remedy for kidney problems. Parsley is another such remedy. In general, the liquid, tincture form of an herb is more readily assimilated than other forms of the herb.
The Whiskers Foundation primarily works with cats, and kidney failure is endemic in older animals. Usually, veterinarians will tell you that nothing can be done except to modify their diets to include less protein, but otherwise, kidney failure is regarded as progressive and irreversible. If you are using an herbal tincture for cats, it is wise to use a tincture which has been extracted with glycerine, not alcohol. Although not all herbal tinctures are available through glycerine extraction, cats hate the taste of alcohol, and it will make your life easier to administer it. I've found that 1-3 drops, three times daily, depending on the size of the cat, mixed in spring water and administered with an eye dropper, is the easiest way to administer it. Just squirt the remedy into the cat's mouth.
Typically, what works with animals also works with humans. Be you human or cat, you don't have much to lose, and everything to gain, by researching and using alternative medicine to treat kidney failure. For an adult, the typical dose is one dropperful (30-40 drops), three times daily.
