The Association of British Drivers was an organisation that dated back to 1993, when it was formed as a membership based, not-for-profit organisation by Brian Gregory. The Drivers' Alliance, which had been formed to oppose road pricing, was founded in 2008 by Peter Roberts. Criticism In 2004, the Association of British Drivers was described by the police chief Richard Brunstrom as an "unduly influential … pressure group." He went on to say, "They have less than 3,000 members, yet they are given enormous attention by the media. … It's ludicrous — this is a bunch of crackpots being given prime airtime. It's just because the media love a controversy."
