Alison Raeside is an English family court judge. Life She was called to the Bar in 1982 and practiced civil law in London. She became a district judge in 2000. In 2005, she became the first full-time member of the English judiciary to take maternity leave when she gave birth to her son. At the time, she also had three other children, aged 16, 14 and 11. She was appointed a circuit judge in 2011, specialising in family law. She was the designated family judge for Surrey from 2019 until 2024, where she . She was a tutor for the judicial college for over 10 years and served two terms on the Family Procedure Rules Committee. The judges involved in Sharif's case included HHJ Raeside, who presided over most of the hearings since 2013, when Sharif was born and made subject of a child protection plan. Other judges involved in Sharif's cases included HHJ Peter Nathan and HHJ Sally Williams. Despite prior allegations against Sara's father and stepmother, HHJ Raeside placed Sara back in her father's care in 2019, based on a report from an inexperienced social worker suggesting he was not a threat.
