Alison Davis is the Managing Partner of Belvedere Capital , a private equity investment firm and bank holding company focused on buy-outs of banks and other financial services companies in the US. Belvedere portfolio companies include First Republic Bank, Green Bank, Placer Sierra Bancshares, Presidio Bank, Professional Business Bank, and Seaside Bank and Trust . Ms. Davis has been named as one of the “Most Influential Women in Business” by the San Francisco Business Times in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Ms. Davis serves on the boards of several public and private companies including InterAct Public Safety Systems, LECG (XPRT), Presidio Bank, Professional Business Bank, SilkRoad technology, and Xoom. Early life Alison Davis was born to Joyce and Jack Davis in Sheffield, England. One of three children she lived for a short while in South Africa before she moved to Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire at an early age and remained there until matriculation at Cambridge University. Ms. Davis was an outstanding student at Wolfreton School in Willerby. On graduation from Wolfreton, Ms. Davis studied Economics at Selwyn College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge, Ms. Davis launched her first business - a business designing, building and selling hat stands - and ran a student organization called Inquiring Minds. Career Ms. Davis' first position after graduating from Cambridge was as a business analyst at McKinsey and Company in their London office. In 1986 McKinsey sponsored Ms. Davis to attend Harvard Business School where she was awarded first year honors. However, on marrying in the summer of 1987, Ms. Davis transferred to Stanford Graduate School of Business where she graduated with an MBA in 1988. She is one of only a handful of people to have studied for an MBA at both Harvard and Stanford business schools. While at Stanford, Ms. Davis worked with Salomon Brothers in in New York and in London. On graduation from Stanford, Ms. Davis rejoined McKinsey and Company in their New York office where she became an active member of the Organization and Performance Practice working with such luminaries as Jon Katzenbach and Steve Dichter. Ms. Davis was also a member of the Financial Institutions Practice during her time at the Firm . Ms. Davis subsequently joined A.T. Kearney in 1993 as a senior partner of the Global Financial Institutions Group in New York. In 1994 she transferred to the San Francisco area and became Western Region Practice Leader, and North America Management Committee Member shortly thereafter. In San Francisco, Ms. Davis was a member of the Bay Area Council, and a member of the San Francisco Partnership. Ms. Davis left AT Kearney to become the Chief Financial Officer and a Global Management Committee Member for Barclays Global Investors, the San Francisco-based institutional money management firm with approximately $2 trillion of assets under management and operations in North America, Europe and Asia. Ms. Davis serves on the boards of several public and private companies including InterAct Public Safety Systems, LECG (XPRT), Presidio Bank, Professional Business Bank, SilkRoad technology, and Xoom.Ms. Davis has formerly held board seats at Broadlane, Dispatch Management Services (DMSC), First Data Corporation (FDC) and Les Concierges. Non Profit Appointments Ms. Davis is an active board director of Women’s Initiative for Self Employment and WOW Investments which invests in women-owned businesses in Africa. For the last three years she has chaired the Bay Area Red Cross annual fundraising gala - “Paint the Town Red”. Ms. Davis has formerly held board seats at Cambridge in America, the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and the San Francisco Partnership. Personal life Alison Davis is married to Matthew Le Merle who she met while work at McKinsey & Company in London. Ms. Davis lives in Tiburon in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband Matthew Le Merle and her children Max, Tallulah, Louis, Felix and Leo.
