Alicia Rivera is a fictional character in The Clique series of novels by Lisi Harrison. Alicia will be portrayed by Samantha Boscarino in the upcoming Clique film, which is currently in production.
About Alicia Rivera is a member of the The Pretty Committee, a group of the most popular, rich, and spoiled girls at Octavian Country Day, a private school in Westchester, NY. She is the beta, or second in command in the group, after Massie Block. Despite being number two, Alicia is a leader, and loves to come out on top. In Revenge of the Wannabes, Massie kicks Alicia out of the Pretty Committee because she cheated on the uniform contest with her new stunningly beautiful friend Olivia, and then tried to start their own clique... which, needless to say, didn't work out too well. Later, Massie takes her back in - but only after seeking her own revenge.
Later, Alicia is kicked out of the Pretty Committee a second time in Bratfest at Tiffany's after accidentally-on-purpose switching tables so she could sit next to her crush, Josh Hotz, wearing Josh's pink New York Yankees cap and saying it was a dare, and then making the Pretty Committe look like LBRs (Losers Beyond Repair) with "special needs" on the local news.
Alicia has Spanish origins, but Massie accuses her dad, Antonio "Len" Rivera, of originating from Brooklyn. She also claims that his real name is Rivers, but that he took on the name Rivera so Alicia's grandparents would give her dad the blessing for marriage. Alicia doesn't know enough Spanish to converse with her relatives in Spain; Claire had to translate for her in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers. She is an only child, and lives in an even bigger estate than Massie, where the closest neighbors are a quarter of a mile away.
Her cousins live in Spain, including Nina Callas, who visits Alicia in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers. Many boys think Alicia, with her C-cups and imported Euro-flair, is more beautiful than Massie Block. But when Nina arrives, she sweeps the Briarwood boys off their feet with her newfound beauty, "experience" in the kissing department, suitcase stocked full with the latest Spanish trends, and her chest, which makes Alicia's look like a back.
Alicia's best friends are Massie Block, Dylan Marvil, Kristen Gregory, and Claire Lyons. Olivia Ryan.
Looks, Personality & Reputation Alicia is known as the most beautiful girl at OCD (along with Olivie Ryan; together, they are referred to as "The 20" by the Briarwood boys because both are perfect 10s) and also reads announcements over the P.A. system, a job she fully hearts. Boys at Briarwood Academy (OCD's brother school) frequently yell, "You're hot!" when she approaches any stage. She is described as a sultry beauty with thick black hair, a deep Mediterranean tan, big innocent brown eyes, and has large (C-cup) breasts, which she is very self conscious about, but boys adore. While auditioning for the starring role in teen blockbuster, Dial L for Loser, British director Rupert Mann stated that no one would buy her as a loser - "you're too beautiful."
Alicia walks slow and with a saunter - so slow, in fact, that it takes five minutes for her from her house to the Range Rover (driven by Isaac) every morning when Massie comes to pick her up. In "Revenge of the Wannabes", she is accused of having fake boobs, and is once described as a "hotter version of Penélope Cruz with a better nose." Exotic and somewhat foreign looking because of her Spanish roots, her fashion sense is a blend of classic, girly, preppy, and trendy - just as long as it's from Ralph Lauren.
Alicia's personality is a mix. She loves to gossip (usually scoring the most points each week), but is also capable of keeping a secret - something Massie will probably never be able to do. Her sweet personality around adults makes her seem innocent, but around boys she can be apt to break free and flirt (even though she dresses conservatively). She can be clever and cruel, but sometimes she wants nothing of her beta position. In the first four books it seems she would be a decent alpha, but as the books continue, she becomes more and more lenient to Massie's demands.
Her dream is to become a reporter someday - and to deliver it in style. Which, to Massie's displeasure, always takes a "nosedive" after each visit to Spain.
Love Life
In the third book Alicia has a crush on Harris Fisher. In Invasion of the Boysnatchers, she develops a crush on Josh Hotz, a transfer student from Hotchkiss, who was kicked out for setting off a fire alarm before an inportant test.
In Sealed With a Diss, Alicia goes to Skye Hamilton's graduation costume party with Josh, who now likes her. They dress up as Ralph Lauren and his wife, Ricky. Later, after Derrington dumps Massie, Josh, who had craftily dyed his hair grey with baby powder, offers to stay with Alicia while the other boys leave. Her response was unexpected but displayed her neverending loyalty toward Massie: "Um, opposite of cool. I don't want to be the only one with a date."
In Bratfest at Tiffany's, The Pretty Committee is on a "boyfast." Anyone seen with a boy will get kicked out of The N (New) P (Pretty) C (Committee). Not that this stopped Josh from sneaking into the broadcast room to see Alicia. His first words to her were "Nice boots," causing her to cover her chest (further evidence of her self-consciousness toward her C-cups), until he explained, "I said boots, not - "
Alicia now constantly wears Josh's New York Yankee's hat around school.
