Alex Sobel

Alex Sobel is the Labour candidate for the Parliamentary constituency of Leeds North West.
He is a member of Leeds City Council. He was a witness to the Macpherson Inquiry into racism in the police force in 1998 as a student anti-racism campaigner.
He was born in Hyde Park, Leeds and now lives with his wife in Far Headingley and their 2 boys Jakob who is 6 and Zachary who is 3. He runs Social Enterprise Yorkshire and the Humber. He is a former secretary of the Leeds Co-operative Party and spent six months running a local business centre in Chapeltown, Leeds.
He stood as Labour's Parliamentary Candidate in Beaconsfield in 2005, and was the Yorkshire Organiser for Ed Miliband on his leadership campaign.
He has supported the campaign to restore an evening service bus between Ilkley and Otley but says his main focus will be in jobs and education. He was prominent in welcoming the People’s March for the NHS from Jarrow to Leeds in August 2014.
