Alejandro Finning

Alejandro Finning was born in 1894, in Aguilas, Murcia, South East Spain.
He was the son of George Finning, Devonshire merchant, and Otilia Garea Mandia, Galega, from A Corunha, who were married on the 14th of June 1891 at the Iglesia Evangelica de Cartagena.
Alejandro worked for Hawes & Co in Alicante and Sevilla. The company imported bacalao ingles, English dry salted cod.
On the 24th of March 1922 he married Teresa Altimir Campa and they would have four children, Alexander, Teresa, Carmen and Gonzalo.
Alejandro is mentioned as being the first trainer of Hercules football club of Alicante, but elsewhere he is listed as being the second. It is not known if the post was full time, paid, etc.
When the Spanish Civil War began he remained in Alicante with his family, until 1938 when Italian air raids increased. The family was evacuated aboard the Royal Navy HMS Arethusa, which dropped them off at Marseille.
